San Diego Regional Center Self-Determination Program

A life worth living.
Built by design.

Venture Life Program creates community-based experiences, adaptive fitness, and life skills programs for adults with developmental disabilities, funded through the San Diego Regional Center Self-Determination Programs.

The Reality

This isn’t the life you imagined for your child

“I just want my child to have a meaningful life and community.”
 — What we hear from families every day

Traditional day programs often feel like adult daycare.

Facility-based, one-size-fits-all, and focused on supervision rather than growth. Families are increasingly saying no.

Most providers offer isolated services, not a complete life.

A fitness class here, a life skills session there, but no one is connecting it into a meaningful, cohesive experience.

Life coaching for adults with disabilities is almost nonexistent.

Goal-setting, identity, confidence, and purpose are rarely part of the conversation.

A Better Option

Your adult child deserves more than a waiting room

Most day programs aren’t designed for the life your family imagined. We are.

The Self-Determination Program was created to give adults with developmental disabilities something powerful: real choice. Instead of fitting into a rigid system, your family controls the budget and selects programs that reflect who your loved one truly is.

Venture Life Program brings everything together into one structured, community-based experience. We focus on independence, real-world engagement, and meaningful social connection so your loved one can build a life, not just follow a schedule.

The Founders

Built by people who’ve lived this work

Venture Life Program was founded by two people who have spent their careers in this community — not consulting on it from the outside, but showing up every day for the individuals and families they serve.

Families & Members

What a different kind
of program feels like

These are the kinds of experiences we aim to create for every member and family we work with.
John has worked with my son for many years. John is patient and flexible. He has been very intuitive in identifying my son’s changing needs over the years. John is trustworthy and dependable. The mentoring and experiences have all been rewarding.

John and my son have a genuine friendship, which I believe makes the mentoring and job coaching process really enjoyable for our son and effective in the end. John has encouraged personal growth & maturity and supported a lot of life experiences. John has worked with our son for better part of a decade as mentor, roomate, travel companion. They have actually traveled the world together!
